The farm has been awarded the prestigious Gold Award at the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, one of the most important international contests dedicated to extra virgin olive oil. This recognition further strengthens the estate’s reputation as one of the leading organic producers on the global stage.
Among hundreds of competitors from around the world, Laudemio Fattoria San Michele a Torri stood out for its unmistakable character, securing a place among the best oils of the year.
“This award is an extraordinary achievement for us,” says Leonardo Francalanci, CEO of the farm. “Winning in New York, a key city and an important market, confirms the quality of our product and strengthens our international presence.”
The 2023/24 olive-growing season was particularly complex due to challenging climatic conditions. A scorching summer and poor fruit set significantly reduced the quantity of olives harvested. Despite this, the farm was able to produce 30,000 liters of high-quality extra virgin olive oil from its extensive olive groves, which include over 50,000 trees.
“The biggest challenge this year was choosing the perfect moment for the harvest,” explains Francalanci. “We decided to anticipate the picking by about ten days to ensure that the olives were at their optimal ripeness. This decision was key to achieving an oil of outstanding quality.”
This strategic approach, combined with an unwavering commitment to excellence, confirms Fattoria San Michele a Torri as a leader in the production of premium extra virgin olive oil.
